Family furious after dead baby goes missing at Komfo Anokye Teaching hospital

A family is holding the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital to account to find the body of their baby which according to KATH died after it was born at the hospital on Monday.

According to Solomon Boakye Ansah, a motor mechanic and father of the missing baby girl, his wife Abigail Opoku was rushed to the hospital in labour on Friday.

His wife according to him gave birth on Saturday night but fell unconscious after post labour complications.

He told Ultimate News’ Ivan Heathcote – Fumador that the baby was kept away from her sick mother by the medics and attended to by his mother in law.

According to Nana Kwame as he is popularly called, the hospital also charged him money for paying for mixtures to feed the baby on Monday and Tuesday.

The family got alarmed when the mother of the baby regained her strength on Wednesday and demanded to see her baby only to be told that the baby had died on Monday.

When the family inquired about the whereabouts of the body, they were told another family member whom they don’t know had come to sign documents for the baby to be transferred to the mortuary.

The father of the baby however told Ultimate News the mortuary attendants have refused to allow him see the body with the excuse that the fridge has been locked.

Public relations officer of the Hospital Kofi Frimpong has however given assurances the hospital will immediately commence investigations into the matter.

Speaking on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo with host Kwame Adinkra he noted that the police will be brought in if they realize any foul play.

This would be another blow to the hospital as it comes few years after the infamous Suwaiba missing baby saga rocked the hospital in the year 2014.
