Education Minister pays working visit to WASSCE Students

Minister for Education, Dr. Mathew Opoku-Prempreh, has paid a working visit to West African Examination Council (WAEC) registered students of three schools who were seated for the 2017 WASSCE exams in Accra.

Accompanied by the Director-Genera of the Ghana Education Service, Jacob Kor, the Minister first visited the Presbyterian Boys Senior Higher School (Presec) at Legon and later went Achimota Senior High and Accra Girls Senior School.

At all three schools, he interacted with the head teachers and checked attendance of registered students as well as enquired details about the number of examination officers, teachers and other assistants present to invigilate the examination process.

The Minister expressed satisfaction at the exams atmosphere describing it siren enough for the students deliver their optimum best. At legon Presec where the Minister arrived before the examination started, he encouraged the students and urged them desist from all forms of examination malpractices.

Addressing the press after his visit. Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh reiterated the directive to heads of Assisted Senior High Schools not to prevent any student from writing the ongoing WASSCE.

Hon. Opoku Prempeh ordered that no Headmaster/Headmistress is mandated to prevent the students from taking part in the examinations because they haven’t paid school fees.
