Terrorist groups could spring from vigilante groups – NDC MP

The Member of Parliament for Buem constituency, Hon. Daniel Kwasi Ashiamah, says Ghana is not the only country that is witnessing activities of vigilante groups however, other countries have dealt with the issue by formulating stringent laws to prevent it existence.

According to him, in order to deal with the unlawful activities of these groups, we have to deal with it holistically.

He described the existence of vigilante groups as unfortunate and an affront to democracy in Ghana.

The legislator lamented that the attacks by these groups are unwarranted and an infringement on the rights of citizens.

He took a swipe at political parties condoning the activities of these groups adding, very soon we are going to witness the formation of terrorist groups should these groups not disbanded.

He also charged members of these groups to concentrate on learning some skills so they can be self defendant instead of wasting their time.

The existence of these groups he stressed undermines the authority of President Nana Akufo-Addo and embarrassment to the state.
