President places moratorium on the purchase of new vehicles

President Nana Akufo-Addo has placed moratorium on the purchase of new vehicles by Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

The Chief of Staff, Madam Frema Opare in a letter dated March 21 said the ban holds until further notice. The letter directed all MDAs to make use of the “existing fleet of vehicles in their respective transport pools.”

The Chief of Staff, however, noted that in extraordinary circumstances, MDAs that want to procure new vehicles “shall seek for and obtain the prior express written authorisation.”
