Sefwi Wiawso High Court a deathtrap; Chief wants CJ, government to intervene

The paramount chief of Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area, Katakyei Kwasi Bumankamah II, has appealed to the Chief Justice Georgina T. Wood and the government to construct a new High Court building for the people in the area.

Currently, the court which is being housed in a dilapidated one-storey building, has become a disincentive to the users of the place, especially lawyers most of who refuse to have their cases heard in that court.

The 40-year old building has no washroom for the presiding judge, lawyers and even the general public who access justice from the court on daily basis. The chief has therefore appealed to the Judicial Service and the government to intervene by either renovating the building or construct a new one for them.

He said he has released and prepared a parcel of land which he intends to hand over to the government for the construction of a new court for the people in the area.
