We’ll deal with NPP macho men – Police

Police in the Ashanti Region have said they will go after persons who were engaged in the attack on the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator, George Adjei, on Friday 24 March.

Police have described the incident as unacceptable, indicating that crime has no political colour and vowed to bring the perpetrators to book.

This comes after a group of well-built men from the governing New Patriotic Party’s Delta Force allegedly stormed the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council on Friday to stop Mr Adjei, who has been appointed as the regional security coordinator, from performing his duties.

According to members of the party’s private security arm, they cannot work with Mr Adjei since he is not native to the region.

Mr Adjei was allegedly manhandled and dragged from his office, but was saved by police officers who were called in to maintain calm.

At a news conference, Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nketiah Yeboah, said they had begun preliminary investigations into the incident and will make the necessary arrests.
