Rainstorm hits Osino

Osino (E/R), Mar. 5, GNA- A severe rainstorm hit Osino township rendering about fifty people homeless and caused damaged to properties running into millions of cedis.

The roof of one of the classrooms of the local Secondary School and a garage was ripped off.

The headmaster, Mr Kwadjo Acheampong-Sekyi told the Ghana News Agency (GNA), that the incidence would affect teaching and learning since the storm had affected some of the structures on campus. He said the administration office, computer room, staff common room and the three classrooms needed rehabilitation. Mr Acheampong-Sekyi appealed to the Fanteakwa District Assembly and the Ghana Education Service (GES) to come to the aid of the school. At the time of going to the press, staff of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), were working around the clock to remove the roof of the garage which fell on the wires.

At the Osino Presbyterian Primary School, the headmistress, Miss Janet Acheampong, said the rainstorm affected a six-classroom block, an office and store and four rooms of the lower primary causing serious cracks to the walls.

Ms Acheampong appealed to the Assembly for assistance to enable academic work to continue.

Two elderly bedridden women, Madam Adwoa Atta and Abena Kuma escaped unhurt when tenants in the house rescued them. The chief’s palace was also affected.
