Assault on police officer: Court issues warrant for the arrest of 2

An Accra Circuit Court has issued the warrant for the arrest of an ex-police officer Mumuni Jabel and one Abdul for the who assaulted a senior police officer, ASP Nanka Bruce at the Flagstaff House in January this year.

The two suspects are said to have assaulted the officer a day after President Akufo-Addo was sworn into office. The incident captured by a CCTV camera went viral on social media.

The two on January 9, 2017 showed and attempted to seize ASP Bruce’s car. Their action has been widely condemned by some Ghanaians and organizations.

Appearing before Parliament on Thursday March 23, 2017, Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery said the offenders would be brought to book.

He was asked about how far the case has travelled and in his response he said: ‘’the matter is currently under investigation by the police CID and efforts are being made to arrest the suspects.

An Accra Circuit Court has issued a warrant for the arrest of Mumuni Jabil-the ex-police officer-and his counterpart.’’

He however added that he did not have personal knowledge on how the two had access to the seat of government.
