Ambulance wasn’t carrying waterfall accident victims – Ambulance Service

The Ghana Ambulance Service has debunked a publication that one of their ambulances, carrying injured victims of the Kintampo accident, has been involved in an accident.

“The information that is being circulated on social media and some online networks that the National Ambulance Service ambulance car carrying victims of the Kintampo Waterfall [accident], which some of them were reported dead, has been involved in accident was not true,” a statement from the Ambulance Service stated on Tuesday, March 21.

The release pointed out that even though an ambulance was involved in an accident on Tuesday, it was not carrying the victims of the accident that killed 18 students with over 20 in critical condition.

“The facts on the accident involving the ambulance are that the said ambulance was stationed at Cheriponi in the Northern Region. It was tasked to transport a patient from the Tamale Teaching Hospital to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, and on its way to Kumasi, between Kintampo and Techiman, it collided with an on-coming vehicle in an attempt to overtake another vehicle in front of the ambulance,” the statement said.

The release allayed fears of any deaths and explained that the driver of the ambulance who sustained an injury was responding to treatment at the Holy Family Hospital.
