Disaster! Tree kills 20, injures 30 revelers at Kintampo Waterfall

Twenty people are confirmed dead and about 30 others injured at the Kintampo Waterfall in the Brong Ahafo Region where a tree has fallen off the top of the waterfall to the ground.

Several others are feared trapped and personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service and the Police have arrived at the scene to rescue the victims.

The deceased are believed to be mostly students from the Wenchi Methodist Secondary School who were on an excursion to the famous waterfall at the time of the incident.

The Kintampo Police, which confirmed the late Sunday afternoon accident to TV3 correspondent Larry Paa Kwesi Moses said the injured have been sent to the Kintampo Municpal Hospital for medical attention.

A storm was said to have caused a huge tree on top of the waterfall to drop down the ground of the fall where revelers were swimming.
