Nkawkaw Police destroys 203 sacks of wee

A total of 203 sacks of substance believed to be Indian hemp (wee) have been destroyed by the Nkawkaw Police Command at Abepotia, a suburb of Nkawkaw in the Kwahu West Municipality of the Eastern Region.

This followed permission granted by the Mpraeso Circuit Court presided over by her ladyship Sinari Mariam.

However one sack was left behind to be used as exhibit at the court.

According to the Divisional Crime Officer, DSP Asare, the Police Command filed a motion on the 14th of October, 2016, praying the court to allow it destroy 203 sacks out of 204 sacks of substance believed to be indian hemp which the command retrieved from Apesika a farming community within the Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region in a swoop it undertook in February, 2016.

In that exercise by the police, an old woman in her 70s and sixteen others were rounded up for cultivating and selling what is thought to be the banned substance (wee).

Sacks containing the substance were retrieved from each of the 21 houses in the community.
