New Edubiase (Ash), March 2, GNA – The Chief Justice, Mr George Kingsley Acquah, has reiterated the call on Ghanaians to resist coups and strive to ensure that democracy thrived in the country. He said coups had drawn the country back and were responsible for the present socio-economic woes facing the country.
Mr Justice Acquah made the call when he paid a courtesy call on the chiefs and elders of the New Edubiase in the Adansi East district of Ashanti as part of his working visit to the district on Monday. He announced that a permanent magistrate would soon be appointed to the Edubiase magistrate court to ensure the speedy administration of justice in the area.
Currently, a magistrate from Obuasi sits once a week at Edubiase to administer justice resulting in the piling of cases at the court. Nana Asiama Guahyia Ababio, Edubiasehene, thanked the Chief Justice for the visit and appealed to him to expedite action on the appointment of substantive magistrate for the Edubiase magistrate court to promote the administration of justice in the area. The Chief Justice later inspected work on the district court building and the residence of the district magistrate at New Edubiase.
