PTA, Old students assist Assin Manso SSS

Assin Manso (C/R) GNA – A one hundred and forty million cedis computer laboratory was on Saturday inaugurated for the Assin-Manso Secondary School in the Central Region.

The laboratory, which has 30 computers and accessories, was financed by the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of the school.

Mr Asare Frempong, chairman of the Association, who handed over the Laboratory to the school at the first “home coming” for old students and sod- cutting for the construction of a 1.5 billion cedis administration block and library complex at Assin Manso, said it was their contribution towards making their wards computer literate. It was under the theme: “development of education in Ghana, the role of the past students in the development of their Alma mater.”

Mr. Frempong however, said the 30 computes were inadequate and appealed to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, old students and NGOs to come to their aid to acquire more computers. Mr Frempong appealed to the school authorities to make use of the computers and develop the culture of maintenance to ensure their long life-span.

In a related development, the Old Students Association also refurbished the school’s staff common room and donated sports jersey valued at 11 million cedis to the school

Mr Augustine Kojo Abankwah, chairman of the association said the association was committed to the development of the school and that it has already donated some library books and a local blender to the school.

He said the old students decided to organise the ‘home coming’ to know the problems of the school and come out with possible solutions and pledged that the association would continue to support its alma mater.
