Ghana@60: Account for your kebabs, drinks and merry making – Akamba

Mr. Joshua Amidu Akamba a Deputy National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on the planning committee for the Ghana@60 celebration to account for their job.

Speaking to Kwabena Agyapong on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, Mr. Akamba slammed government for spending GHC 20 million when the economy according to them is not doing well.

In his view, President Nana Akufo-Addo could have taken a cue from Tazania’s president who cancelled their independence celebration and ordered for a national cleaning exercise.

President Nana Addo-Akufo Addo unveiling the logo for Ghana’s 60th-anniversary celebration at a ceremony some months ago revealed that the celebration will cost an estimated GHC20 million.

The celebration he indicated would be borne not only by the state but also Ghanaian citizens and organizations.

But Mr. Akamba believes the money could have been used for something else especially when the current administration promised to protect the public purse.
