There is hope in the budget – PPP’s John Sterling

It is ultimately becoming clearer why the Minister of Finance, Mr. Kenneth Ofori-Atta, christened the 2017 budget ‘Asempa’ Budget.

Details of the budget raised the hopes of several traders and that feeling is the same Mr. John Sterling, a staunch member of the Progressive People’s Party has expressed.

According to Mr. Sterling, after listening attentively to the Minister of Finance during his budget reading to the nation, he can confidently say that there is hope for Ghanaians.

Contributing on ATV’s Asem Yi Di Ka show, John Sterling, however, pointed that though the content of the budget is rich; performing it out is yet to be experienced.

On March 2, 2017, the Minister of Finance, presented the first fiscal policies since assuming the reins of government to Parliament.

The message was well received by spare parts dealers who sang and danced to welcome the abolishment of import duties on spare parts.

Despite the warm reception the‘Asempa’ Budget has received, the Minority National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Parliament has described the maiden budget of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government as a populist budget full of deceptions.
