GHS252m for nurse, teacher trainee allowances

Government has budgeted GHS252million to restore teacher and nurse trainee allowances in September this year.

The allowances were scrapped by the erstwhile John Dramani Mahama administration which incurred the wrath of the trainee teacher and nurses.

President Akufo-Addo promised to restore it during the 2016 campaign if elected into office.

Presenting the maiden budget statement of the new government, Mr Ofori-Atta noted that 49,032 teacher trainees across the 43 public colleges of education and 69,707 nurse trainees will benefit.
