Driver fined for reckless driving

Sekondi, Feb. 24, GNA – A Sekondi Magistrate’s Court on Monday fined Kwabina Nketiah, a driver, one million cedis on each of two counts of reckless driving and neglect of road traffic signs. The sentence would run concurrently and in default, the accused would serve six months imprisonment in hard labour. Nketiah pleaded guilty to both charges.

Police Sergeant Andam Okyere, said at about 11.00 a.m. on Monday, Nketiah drove a car from the offices of the Shama-Ahanta East Metropolitan Assembly in Sekondi towards the Sekondi Police Station ignoring a “stop traffic” sign.

At an intersection, he drove on recklessly and nearly collided with the official vehicle of the Regional Police Commander. Sergeant Okyere said Nketiah was arrested and charged with the offences.
