Tenant before court for assaulting co-tenant

Accra, Feb 24, GNA – Jemima Tetteh, Trader, appeared before an Accra Circuit Court on Monday for allegedly assaulting her co-tenant and causing harm to him.

Tetteh, also known as Ewura Ekua, pleaded not guilty to the charge, and the presiding judge, Mrs Elizabeth Ankumah, granted her bail in the sum of 20 million cedis with one surety. She is to reappear on March 22.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector George Abavelim, told the Court that, the complainant Mr Emmanuel Adake lives at the same place with the accused at La, but they are at loggerheads.

Inspector Abavalim said on January 5, while returning home, Mr Adake overheard the accused person mentioning his wife’s name, and he enquired as to what the problem was.

The Prosecution said the accused person threatened Adake and started insulting him. Later, Tetteh hit Mr Adake with a bottle, stabbed him with a broken bottle and bit one of his left fingers.
