Board would bring pilgrims’ luggage with despatch

Accra Feb.23, GNA- The Ghana Hajj Board (GHB) on Monday described as misleading, a radio announcement with regards to pilgrims returning from this year’s hajj without their luggage.

A statement issued by the board pointed out that all pilgrims who kept the stipulated weight of 50 kilograms, arrived in Ghana with their luggage.

It explained that the luggage left behind was excess weight over and above the 50 kilograms entitlement per pilgrims, which if brought accompanied, would have jeopardised the lives of pilgrims and safety of the carrier.

The statement noted that the measures taken by the Airline, were therefore purely safety precautions in the interest of lives and property, and should be appreciated as such.

“There is every effort to get the remaining luggage to Ghana on regular commercial Egypt Air scheduled flights with despatch, the statement assured.”

Affected pilgrims the statement concluded, should appreciate measures taken, and bear with GHB.
