KTI withdraws from on-going athletics competition

The Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI) has announced its withdrawal from the on-going Ashanti Regional Inter-Schools and Colleges Athletics Competition.

Mr. Hayford Emmanuel Clarke, Spokesperson of the Institute, told the GNA Sports that, the decision was taken at an emergency stakeholders’ meeting.

In attendance were the management members, parent-teacher association (PTA) and the old students association.

He said this was meant to protect and ensure the safety of their students and follows close to the recent bloody clash with the police that left more than 40 students hurt.

KTI has qualified for the super zonal of the competition, which comes off at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on February 24, but Mr. Clarke said, they would not be part of it.

He said the students had been told to stay off the competition in their own interest.

“Any student who goes to the Stadium will have themselves to blame in the event of any incident”, he added.
