DCE asks for assistance to complete water project

Fosu (C/R) Feb. 22, GNA- Mr. Kwabena Karikari Apau the District Chief Executive for Assin, has called for assistance to assist in the completion of the abandoned Dawumako Water.

He said the project, which was meant to serve Assin Fosu would curb perennial water shortage in the area and reduce over reliance on water from streams, ponds and hand dug wells constructed in individual homes. Mr. Karikari Apau speaking to the GNA at Fosu at the weekend. The DCE said the high rate water borne diseases in the area was as result of over dependence on untreated water.

He said the Dawumako project initiated in the Busia regime about 30 years ago was abandoned compelling the people to resort to taking waters from ponds streams and hand dugs wells.

Mr. Karikari Apau said the project would serve more than 30 towns and villages around Assin Fosu.
