Rainstorm hits five communities in Amansie West

Manso-Nkwanta (Ash), Feb 21, GNA- One person was injured and about 500 others rendered homeless when a storm swept through five communities in the Amansie West District of Ashanti last Saturday. Property running into millions of cedis, were destroyed in the storm, which lasted almost one hour.

The affected communities included Manso-Nkwanta, Manso-Kwahu, Manso-Dominase, Manso-Asubinya and Manso-Suntreso. Mr Atta Amofa, the Manso-Nkwanta zonal NADMO Co-ordinator who accompanied the assembly members of the affected communities to inspect the extent of damage caused, consoled the affected victims and advised the people to plant trees in their communities to serve as windbreaks to check storms.

The assembly members, appealed to the Amansie West district assembly, National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and public-spirited people to come to the aid of the victims.
