Computer training centre opens in Kumasi

Accra, Feb. 20, GNA – A computer training centre to teach computer-based business training skills to managers, directors and employees of Ghanaian agricultural cooperatives was on Thursday opened in Kumasi.

The centre, which is a partnership between the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, is aimed at addressing mutual issues in the agricultural sectors of both countries.

This is contained in a statement issued in Accra on Thursday by the Public Affairs Section of the US Embassy in Accra.

The statement said the facility, which was opened to students of the Cooperative College in Kumasi, was a tangible evidence of the close partnership and strong relationship between the United States and Ghana. It said the knowledge and practical business skills students would acquire from the centre would help Ghana’s agricultural sector to prosper and play a key role in the country’s economic development. Volunteers of the US Peace Corps would man the Centre during its first two years of operation.

It was funded by the United States Agency for International Development and donations from three US cooperative organizations.
