GWCL to solve water problem in East Ayawaso constituency

Accra, Feb. 18, GNA – The Member of Parliament for East Ayawaso, Dr. Mustapha Ahmed has appealed to the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), as a matter of urgency to find solution to the acute water shortage in the area.

He said for over six weeks the area had been facing continuous shortage of water without notice or explanation from the company as to the nature of the problem.

Dr. Ahmed made the appeal in a release to the Parliamentary Press Corps on Wednesday, saying that the water shortage had created immense hardships for the people of the community thus compounding their already existing woes.

He emphasised that any delay in solving the problem might create conditions that may result in the outbreak of epidemics, as the people would resort to the use of untreated water. The MP called on the company to make effort to reach out to consumers with explanations and plans from time to time, especially during difficult times.

He urged consumers to pay their bills promptly to enable the company to remain in business.
