New Edubiase residents hit streets over lack of chief

Residents of New Edubiase in the Adansi South District of the Ashanti Region have hit the streets to demonstrate against the queenmother’s failure to get them a chief for the past three years.

According to them, the absence of a chief has stalled development in the area.

TV3’s Benjamin Aidoo reported that clad in red, both the old and the young took part in the demonstration. There has been tension in the community over the inability of the kingmakers to select a chief after the demise of Nana Asiamah Guahyia II.

The late chief ruled for over 40 years and his absence has affected the development of the community. meanwhile, fear has gripped some residents of New Edubiase who have called for increased security presence as the demonstration is set to intensify from next week Wednesday.

The queenmother of the area, Nana Akua Twum II, has however called for calm, assuring people of the community that the kingmakers are in the process of choosing the right candidate to succeed the Nana Asiamah Guahyia II.
