Assemblies urged to enact sanitation by-laws

Begoro (E/R), Feb. 18, GNA – District Assemblies have been urged to enact effective sanitation by-laws to promote sound environmental sanitation.

The call was made by Environmental Health Officers in the Fanteakwa District at the end of a two-day capacity building workshop at Begoro on Wednesday.

The workshop, which was meant to update the skills of the health personnel in the delivery of efficient sanitary services to the public, treated topics including health promotion, community mobilization and entry promotion and post-test evaluation.

The Eastern Regional Environmental Health Officer, Mr Francis Quist, asked Health Inspectors to educate the public on good sanitary practices to enable them protect their lives.

He said by so doing, they would remove the public stigma that Sanitary Inspectors only arrest and prosecute people. Mr Quist asked them to establish a good relationship with the public and advise them regularly to promote good sanitation. 18 Feb. 04
