District Elections set for March

The Electoral Commission (EC) has indicated that it is set to organize the District and Unit Committee elections which were postponed in September 2015, on Saturday, March 11, 2017.

In a statement, the EC gave the names of the regions, districts and electoral areas in which the elections will be held as Nkoranza North and South Districts of the Brong-Ahafo Region; Dichemso Electoral Area/Unit in the Manyhia Sub-Metro of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly in the Ashanti Region and Agbonyra Electoral Area in the Afadjato South District of the Volta Region.

According to the statement titled, “Outstanding District Level Elections,” prospective candidates have been urged to pick up their nomination forms from the designated District Offices of the Commission between Thursday, 9th February and Sunday, 12th February.

“The Commission will be accepting completed nomination forms from prospective candidates for the elections from Tuesday, 14th February, 2017 to Monday, 20th February, 2017,” the statement, signed by EC’s Head of Communication, Eric Dzakpasu, pointed out.
