NDC youth to stage mass walk to protest gov’t ‘intimidation’

The youth wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has written to the Accra Regional Police Command for permission to embark on a mass walk on Friday, February 24.

The letter sighted by 3news.com said the walk along some major streets of Accra is to draw the attention of the general public and the international community to “the culture of intimidation, fear-mongering and general harassment, dismissals and seizure of private properties of NDC officials and members”.

According to the letter written by National Youth Organiser Sidii Abubakar Musah, since assuming power, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has introduced a lawless culture into the country. There have been reports of seizures of state property by NPP supporters while some property of past government officials have also been reportedly seized.

The issues came to a head on February 1, 2017 when five vehicles of Kofi Adams, the National Organiser of the NDC, were seized from his residence. The mass walk is expected to be peaceful, according to the letter written by Mr Musah.
