PNC Congress postponed to March 26

Accra, Feb. 16, GNA – The People’s National Convention (PNC) has postponed its National Delegates Congress scheduled for February 20-21 to March 26-27, this year.

A statement issued in Accra on Monday and signed by Mr Gabriel Pwamang, General Secretary of the Party, said the postponement was to enable some members of the local and foreign branches of the party, who recently filed their nominations to contest for leadership positions.

The statement said under the party’s Constitution, nominations should be received not later than one month to the date of congress.

“If the Party proceeds to hold the congress as scheduled, these members from the branches would have no opportunity to contest for leadership position,” the statement said.

It was, therefore, necessary to shift the date for the congress forward to enable the new applicants realize their democratic rights to be elected into office.

Accordingly, the congress would be held on the new date at the Ghana International Trade Fair Centre at La in Accra, the statement said and asked the public, well-wishers and party members to take note.
