The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Otiko Afisa Djaba who was sworn in by the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has stated that it pays off to stand firm.
She contends that it necessary for individuals to stand by their words no matter the circumstance.
‘I am very grateful to the good people of this country; they’ve made me understand that if you are fair and firm and stand your grounds it pays off. I am 55 years, and if I don’t learn to speak the truth now, at what point in life will I be honest in my ways,” the NPP’s national women organiser said in an interview with Kasapa FM.
She admitted that life should be characterised with challenges in order for people to appreciate God’s work.
Madam Otiko assured that she will not relent on her efforts in ensuring that social and cultural issues in Ghanaian society are tackled.
Otiko’s approval which was subjected to balloting won over 50% votes cast by the majority.
But the minority refused to partake in the voting arguing that the ballot papers did not have the required stamp.
Her approval was in the balance because the minority had earlier tagged her ‘insolence’ for refusing to apologise to the former President John Dramani Mahama after describing him as ‘wicked’.
