District NADMO nursing various seedlings for farmers

Nkawie (Ash), Feb 12, GNA- The Atwima district secretariat of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) is nursing 100,000 cocoa, teak and oil palm seedlings for distribution to farmers in the district.

Mr Joe Kofi Adu, the District NADMO Co-ordinator, who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Nkawie on Tuesday after a meeting with representatives of nine community disaster volunteer groups, said it was in response to the government’s plantation development programme. He said his outfit had received seedlings, black polythene bags, fertilisers and other inputs from the Ashanti regional secretariat of NADMO for the programme.

Mr Adu assured the groups that the government would provide them with enough cocoa, teak and oil palm seedlings for planting and therefore asked them to take keen interest in the programme.

Leaders of the volunteer groups expressed their readiness to embrace the programme and pledged to clear the sites for the nurseries for the smooth take off of the programme.
