We’ll act as watchdog at Zongo Ministry – Group

A pro New Patriotic Party (NPP) group in the Asawase constituency calling itself ‘Elephant’s Eye’ has pledged its willingness to serve as watchdogs over President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s Zongo Community and Inner City Development Ministry.

The group promised to ensure that funds allocated to the ministry are not misappropriated.

Addressing journalists in Kumasi, the President of the group, Abdul Hailik Siita explained that they will also ensure that monies are used for projects they are intended for and not diverted to other areas.

‘The Elephant’s Eye would serve as a watch dog. We would make sure money set aside in the budget would go into the under listed thematic areas in the Constitution.

And we would also make sure that those people that are going to be in charge will make sure that whatever the money is supposed to be done with is what it would be used for.

The monies cannot be allocated for something different for anyone to also sit somewhere and also direct that the monies should be used for any other thing other than what the money was supposed to be used for. So it is not going to be a watch dog, a watch bull dog for that matter and a wild one,’ he said.

The group expressed appreciation to the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo for the creation of the ministry aimed at giving Zongo communities and urban centers facelift.

They further commended its members and other groups such as Chin Kudi for Change, Gyindaadi for change, NPP Zongo Youth, Zongo for Nana and Bawumia, Kiss me, Loyal Ladies, Wait and See, Odo Kakra Sika Kakra for their contribution towards the victory of NPP in the Asawase Constituency.
