The Office of the Chief of Staff has ordered for the immediate release of state assets from persons involved in the unlawful possession of such.
In a statement signed by the newly appointed Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, she indicated that various state assets including landed properties and vehicles are in the custody of some individuals contrary to law.
According to her, personnel in the Police service, Ghana Revenue Authority (Customs Division), the BNA, DVLA and the office of the President have been tasked by the government to locate and retrieve all such assets illegitimately being kept by these persons.
Mrs. Osei Opare cautioned all such persons to contact the taskforce and make arrangements to surrender these assets immediately.
She also urged the general public to assist with the provision of information on any properties believed to be within the above-mentioned category to the Task-force.
Some persons have in recent times been accused of allegedly having in their possession state assets.
NDC Organiser, Kofi Adams was the first to have five of his cars allegedly seized by some military personnel and officials from the DVLA and National security following claims that the cars were government properties.
Ace broadcaster, Randy Abbey and the Greater Accra Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kobina Ade Coker have also been ‘warned’ by the Brong Ahafo Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe to return government vehicles in their possession.
