Accra: 2 jailed 27 years for robbery

An Accra Circuit Court yesterday sentenced two persons to a total of 27 years in prison with hard labour for their involvement in two separate robberies in Accra.

They are Bright Armah, driver, and Awal Iddirisu, aka Half Dollar, unemployed.

The two are reported to have robbed their respective victims of their mobile phones and various sums of money.

In the case of Bright, the prosecution, led by Superintendent K. Bempah, said the convict on January 28 this year robbed one Sandrich Mensah of her Galaxy S5, worth GHS1000, a Nokia phone valued at GHS80 and GHC 300 cash.

For Half Dollar, DSP Patience Mario, prosecuting, indicated he robbed one Daniel Mensah, a trader, of his Infinix Note 4 mobile worth GHS370 and GHS220 cash.

However, appearing before trial judge Aboagye Tandoh, the two separately admitted the charges and were convicted on their own guilty pleas.
