Bribery Scandal: I’ll submit myself to full investigations – Haruna

The Minority Leader in Parliament Haruna Iddrisu has promised to submit himself to full investigations in the infamous bribery scandal that has rocked the appointments committee of parliament.

Mahama Ayariga, who is a lawmaker for Bawku Central Constituency is alleging that the Minister of Energy through the Chairman of the appointments committee tried bribing members with GH¢3,000 each to approve his vetting.

There have been subsequent calls for full investigations to be launched into the claim with three Members of Parliament (MPs) of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) petitioning the Speaker of Parliament to conduct further probe into the alleged bribery scandal.

A petition jointly signed by Mahama Ayariga who first raised the issue, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Alhassan Suhuyini – MPs for North Tongu and Tamale North respectively demand that the matter be thoroughly looked into.

“I will support the full investigations to establish the veracity or otherwise any matter that bothers on parliament. I expect the speaker and leadership of parliament t take up the matter and conduct full investigations,” he stated.
