Appointments Committee can’t bite – CPP Second Vice-Chairperson

The Appointments Committee of parliament will not reject any ministerial nominee after vetting them, the Second Vice-Chairperson of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Susan Adu-Amankwah, has said.

“I don’t think anybody is going to be rejected at that committee; it is not going to happen,” Ms Adu-Amankwah stated on Class91.3FM’s Executive Breakfast Show on Tuesday, January 31.

Ms Adu-Amankwah, who was commenting on the vetting process, indicated that even if there are enough grounds to suggest a Minister-designate is unfit for a position he has been appointed to, for which reason his nomination should be disapproved, rejecting the nominee is almost always unlikely.

The vetting process “is a formality that we must necessarily go through isn’t it?” she asked, stating: “I am yet to see any of them bite, not necessarily this particular one, but over the years where they have said that this person is unfit for the job, especially when the party has majority and can push it through.”
