Worakese raise funds to complete community centre

Worakese (Ash), Feb 9, GNA – The people of Worakese in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma district of Ashanti climaxed their weeklong “Kohwe Kose” festival on Sunday with a fund-raising durbar, which yielded 25 million cedis.

The money will be used to complete their community centre, which was at the lintel level and estimated to cost 200 million cedis. Speaking to the GNA at the durbar, Mr Augustine Amoako Tuffour, the assemblyman for Worakese, said the community had spent about 50 million cedis on the project.

He said to raise enough funds for the project, residents who were 18 years and above would pay 10,000 cedis each while non-resident citizens would pay 20,000 cedis each.

Mr Tuffour commended the district assembly for assisting the community with 80 bags of cement towards the completion of the project. Mr Charles Opoku Ababio, a citizen of the town based in Accra, called on the people to unite for the development of the community.
