Mass burial to be held by 37 hospital.

The 37 Military Hospital is to conduct a mass burial for 48 unclaimed dead bodies in its morgue, including those who lost their lives in the June 3 twin disaster that caused havoc in Accra in 2015.

Families of the deceased have been given 21 days ultimatum from January 23 to show up at the Hospital to identify and claim the bodies or risk mass burial, authorities said in a statement.

According to the Hospital authorities, includes 16 of the June 3, 2015 Accra flood and fire disaster.

Of the 16 people, only four have been identified but their bodies have since not been claimed.

They are Hellen Danso, Godspower Moregie, Hanna Quaye and Akwasi Tawiah. “The continued storage of these bodies is causing severe congestion and affecting the efficiency of the mortuary,” the authorities said.

Authorities are consequently urging people who suspect their relatives might be dead to report to the Hospital to identify and claim their bodies, warning “failure to do so will result in a mass burial of the bodies”.
