Yagbonwura will reject the division of Gonjaland into two regions -Prince

Yagbonwura Tuntumba Boresa (I), Prince Hamlet Boresa has said that his father who is the King and Overlord of Gonjaland would reject the balkanization of Gonjaland for any purpose or agree to the division of Gonjaland into two administrative regions.

He entreated Gonjas in general to fight against being part of the Eastern Corridor Region as announced by President Nana Akufo-Addo.

In an open letter to President Nana Akufo-Addo, the outspoken Prince Hamlet also told President Nana Akufo-Addo that creating a region within the geographical boundaries of Gonjaland is long overdue adding “If you (President Nana Akufo-Addo) is not ready and willing to give us a region then forget of adding the eastern part of the Gonjaland to the so called Eastern corridor region”.

The Prince stated “We (Gonjas) have learnt our lessons in the past and this time around we have come into a unanimous consensus not to agree to this either by the word of the mouth or paper”.

Prince Hamlet said Gonjas are not going to be lackadaisical in fighting to defend the land their forefathers fought for; shed their blood starting from Southern Egypt to Mande now called Mali and to Ghana through Sakpa in the Bole area.

“Gonjas are not the group of people who would be loitering, marauding and vandalizing to the defense of our land. Not even a meter of land would be part of the so called Eastern corridor region”; he emphasized.

He however said the decision by President Nana Akufo-Addo to create another region out of Northern region and other three from the Western, Volta, Brong Ahafo is an excellent decision as it shows he is going by his manifesto promises.

According to him President Akufo-Addo has good ideas for the betterment of Ghana and therefore entreats Gonjas to hold him in high esteem and believe in his leadership and policies.
