Muslims asked to adhere to tenets of religion

Kumasi, Feb 1, GNA – Sheikh Ibrahim Alkard, Ashanti Regional Imam of the Ghana Muslim Mission, has called on Muslims to use the religion positively since the Islamic religion stands for peace, submission and development and not for violence and other negative attitudes that retard development.

Addressing Muslims after open prayers to mark the Eid-Ul-Adha at the Mission’s School Park at Akwatialine in Kumasi on Sunday, Sheikh Alkard urged the worshippers to follow good morals and to live up-right lives.

He said, “if they adhere to the teachings and doctrines of the Quran, prostitution, alcoholism, drug addiction and violence which is becoming part and parcel of the Muslim youth today could be eliminated from the society”.

Sheikh Alkard stressed the need for Muslim parents to do all that they could to support the education of their children to enable them to become useful citizens. 1 Feb 04
