Akufo-Addo duplicating roles, worse than NDC did – Franklin Cudjoe

President of policy think tank IMANI Ghana, Franklin Cudjoe has said it is needless to have new ministerial portfolios created under the NPP administration when the John Mahama led government was kicked out for making mistakes that include action of that sort.

President Akufo-Addo has so far created four new ministries as additions to the already existing ones.

They are Sanitation, Railways Development, Regional Reorganization and Special Projects and Monitoring and Evaluation.

“I just have issues with the ministries of Transport, Railways and Roads and Highways. These ministries, they can’t stand alone,” Cudjoe told Nana Aba Anamoah.

Mr Cudjoe said given Mr Akufo Addo has more appointments to announce, the current portfolio is too large to deal with.

“At this juncture we are at 25, we are most likely to hit 30.

“Did we go or did we come?

“Because as we speak, the one government we kicked out they were about 24 and we have been talking about leaner.”

He also said the setting up of a Defence Ministry, a Ministry for Interior and National Security Ministry are mere duplications that could have been avoided.

“Ghana is not going to war anytime soon so I don’t see the reason these ministries are created.”
