Prison Officers fight over death of 83-year-old inmate at Nsawam Prisons

The death of an inmate who has served 37 years at the Nsawam Medium Prisons has caused confusion among the top echelons of the Prison Officers who are managing facility.

Mumuni Nambelenaa, an 83 year-old inmate who was sentenced in 1980, died on in the wee hours of January 3, 2017 after a short illness.

Medical doctors at the Nsawam Infirmary had detected that Mumuni was short of blood and therefore recommended for him to be sent to the Nsawam Government Hospital for treatment.

One of the Chief Officers at the prison yard (name withheld), Kasapafmonline.com understands, reported the matter to the In-charge of the facility but refused to give the order for the Mumuni to be sent to the hospital.

Mumuni was however, pronounced dead some few hours later, causing confusion among the rank and file of the officers managing the Nsawam Medium Prisons facility.

Inside sources say the Chief Officer is now at loggerheads with the In-charge of the facility for neglecting his duties.

The Chief Officer, this website is told, has since refused to take over the documentations of the day-to-day activities of the facility.
