Two labourers remanded for possessing Indian hemp

Tema, Jan. 29, GNA- The Tema circuit court “A” presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu on Wednesday remanded two labourers into prison custody on charges of possessing a quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

The pleas of Joseph Mensah and Isaac Adofo were not taken and they will reappear on March 16,

Chief Inspector Mary Assunta, prosecuting, told the court that on January 20, 2004, at about 2030 p.m. ASP W.O. Larbi led police night patrol team to site five, community one at Lomnava drinking spot. She said they spotted Mensah and Adofo who were carrying a black polythene bag containing some dried leaves suspected to be Indian Leaves, they were therefore, arrested, and handed over to the police regional CID for further investigations.

The prosecutor said the police would send the dried leaves to the police forensic laboratory for examination.
