Boy, 16, charged with stealing smoked fish

Elmina (C/R), Jan 30, GNA- Kobina Akora a 16-year-old school boy was on Thursday remanded in police custody by the Elmina Magistrate’s Court for stealing a quantity of smoked fish valued at 50,000 cedis from an oven.

The court presided over by Mr Kwame Ohene Essel deplored the way some parents looked after their children and ordered that the parents of the accused should appear in court on Friday to explain why they had shirked their responsibilities and allowed their son to become wayward. Akora pleaded guilty but had his sentenced deferred to the next week.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Keyward Adjei, told the court that the complainant has been a victim of thefts of her fish for sometime now and on January 23 she again kept a quantity of fish in her oven and kept watch over night.

Prosecution said while she kept vigil, she saw the accused stealing some of the fish from the oven.
