Adankwame (Ash), Jan 29, GNA- Participants at a School Management Committee’s (SMCs) expansion workshop at Adankwame in the Atwima District have identified the excessive use of school children in household chores as a major contributory factor to poor academic output in schools.
They also condemned parents who engage school children in trading activities during school periods and said this practice affects education.
The workshop, attended by 40 participants from Marbang and Adankwame, was organised by the Atwima District Education Directorate with support from United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under its Community School Alliance (CSA) programme on Wednesday.
The participants advised parents and guardians to provide their wards with their basic school needs and restrain them from engaging in gambling, attending video shows and other social vices.
Madam Irene Comfort Badu, Atwima District Early Childhood Development Co-ordinator, said the standard of education could improve if attention was given to pre-school education.
