Mustapha Hameed, Lecturer and Petroleum Engineer has rubbished calls by the NDC and its assigns for Eugene Arhin, Director of Communications at the Presidency to resign his post over allegations of plagiarism.
Mr. Arhin has come under fire for plagiarising portions of former US President, George Bush’s January 20, 2001, inaugural speech which Nana Akufo-Addo read at his inauguration yesterday at the Black Star Square in Accra.
President Akufo-Addo while addressing the gathering urged citizens to be active partakers in the running of the country among others.
“I ask you to be citizens: citizens, not spectators; citizens, not subjects; responsible citizens building your communities and our nation. Let us work until the work is done,” he said.
However, checks reveal that the above words were contained in George Bush’s 2001 inaugural speech.
But Mustapha Hameed who is also a member of the New Patriotic in a post on Facebook said: “Hahaha some things make me laugh! Someone says Eugene should resign. Hahaha. Mahama went to Burkina Faso to take a bribe in the form of a Ford Explorer. You did not ask for his resignation. He didn’t even apologise. Which school will reject your thesis because of a line you fail to reference? The turnitin I know doesn’t work that way.
For building a small wall for $600,000, Kanazoe bribed the president with a car, when we tried to question him before parliament, they blocked it. Mahama didn’t even have the decency to return the gift and apologise and those suggesting today that Eugene resigns were those leading Mahama’s defence.”
