Did Rawlings snub Oko Vanderpuije?

A video is circulating on social media in which former President Jerry John Rawlings appears to have snubbed the Mayor of Accra, Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, as the two politicians walked into parliament to grace the delivery of President John Mahama’s last State of the Nation Address in the morning of Thursday, 5 January.

In the short video clip, Mr Vanderpuije, who won the Ablekuma South seat in the December 7 polls, was seen approaching Mr Rawlings in obeisance but as he attempted walking along with the former military leader and starting a conversation, the founder of the National Democratic Congress stopped momentarily and gestured at Mr Vanderpuije in a manner that suggested that he wanted to be left alone.
