Police in Bimbilla have arrested a so called Muslim cleric, Alfa Alhassan Ibrahim, for allegedly sodomising a 12-year old male he teaches Arabic at his home.
The police will also investigate a child labor allegations against him.
The victim identified as Seidu Hama is currently receiving treatment at Bimbila Government Hospital.
Sources at the hospital say the minor was brought to the facility Saturday afternoon and is in unstable condition.
A medical report available to Kasapa News says “anus of the victim appeared inflamed with reddening and swelling around the anus.”
This is the second time the suspect is being investigated. Previously he was held for using the learners to beg on the streets for him after an investigation by Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
Doctors also added the victim had swallow stomach and may go thorough a complex surgery.
Nanumba North District Police Commander, DSP Benjamin Aniah confirming the incident said the suspect operates Arabic classes in his home with over 20 learners.
He says suspect was picked up upon a complaint by relative of the victim and declined further details after adding the suspect pleaded guilty.
