1st year Achimota student laid to rest; mother vows to seek justice

Master Kevin Kofi Moses, a first year student of Achimota Senior High School who died in what has been believed to be sheer negligence from the school’s authorities by his mother, was laid to rest at the Osu Cemetery on Saturday, December 17.

The story, which was first carried by 3news.com on December 12, suggested that Master Moses died due to the negligence of a Housemaster and staff at Achimota Hospital. His mother Sonia Ansong has called for the immediate closure of the institution as she believes their negligence led to the death of her son.

Kevin died on Sunday, December 4 at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra after being transferred from the Achimota Hospital, where he was admitted and was being treated for an undisclosed illness.

“I feel lost and honestly do not know what to do with myself as it has always been my wish to see my son complete his education and achieve his future dream of becoming a computer scientist just as his father.”

According to her, she will not leave the issue to rest and has vowed to let justice prevail. “Justice is all I want and I will make sure I get to the bottom of this so my son can rest peacefully.”

The school has since set up a committee to investigate the death.
