Togbe Afede pledges support to government

The newly-elected president of the National House of Chiefs, Togbe Afede XIV, has pledged to unite chiefs across the country to support government’s quest to improve the welfare of the people of Ghana.

Togbe Afede XIV, also the Agbogbomefia of Asogli State, who paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, together with some paramount chiefs from the Volta Region, said: “…I am committed to working with you (Otumfuo Osei Tutu II) so that we support the government of the day to bring development to our country and indeed make Ghana relevant in the affairs of Africa and the world.”

At the same event held on Wednesday, December 14, he also pledged to restore nobility and reverence to the chieftaincy institution in order to bring prosperity to the nation.

“I look forward to working with you (Otumfuo Osei Tutu II) to ensure that chiefs across Ghana pursue an agenda that will inure to the benefits of citizens,” he stressed.

Togbe Afede XIV also pledged to foster unity between Ashantis and Ewes in his tenure as the president of the House of Chiefs.

He assured his sole objective would be the welfare of citizens, saying everything had to be done to improve the lives of the people who have placed leaders in positions of authority.
